Helen M. Hasselman

Helen M. Hasselman, 87, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital.

Born on June 23, 1920, in Kenosha County, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Florence (Richter) Robers. She attended Kenosha County schools, and then on her birthday in 1943, she married Leland E. Hasselman. They were blessed with five children. Leland preceded Helen in death on Oct. 21, 1986.

She worked at Coopers/Jockey International, and then for the Southern Center. Following her retirement from Southern Center, Helen worked part time at Zirbel Greenhouse.

Proud of her Catholic faith, Helen was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed caring for her home and yard, and spending time with her family and friends brought her immense joy. She'll be remembered for her enthusiasm and energy. All you had to do was call her and she'd be ready in a flash for any outing.

Left to remember her incredible life are her five children: Sharon Hasselman of Kenosha, Ronald Hasselman of Michicot, Wis., Kevin Hasselman also of Michicot, Wis., Janet (Jerry) Ling of Kenosha, and Susan (Jeffrey) Guth of Franksville, Wis.; her ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Jeanette Koehne of Kenosha.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Shania; a brother, Kenneth Robers; and two sisters, Evelyn Hart and Marilyn Szymanski.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7400 - 39th Avenue. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. A visitation for Helen will be hosted on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2007, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home.
