Julius Stephen Zummak was born on April 5, 1854, in Rostrobovo, Polen, Germany, and died July 13, 1923, at the age of 72 years, at his home three miles northwest of Littleton. His final illness was of about a week's duration, although he had been in failing health since Christmas. Death was due to uraemic poisoning. Funeral services were held Sunday. Burial was made in the Forks Cemetery. Julius Stephen Zummak was the son of Stephen and Wilhelmina Zummak of Germany. He came to America in December 1865, and was naturalized in October 1885. In 1871, he was united in marriage with Fredericka Ortman. She died in February 1874. His second marriage was with Emelia Doehr on September 6, 1874. Mr. Zummak followed the vocation of farming durng his life and for the past 23 years he had been a farmer northwest of Littleton. He is survived by his wife and the following children: E. H. Zummak of Fairbank; O. G. Zummak of Sumner, Iowa; Mrs. E. H. Meyer of Waverly; F.S. Zummak of Jesup; Mrs. G. E. Plaster and E.C. Zummak of Westgate; A.T. and A. B. Zummak of Oelwein; and Miss Clara at home. The following half brothers are also left to mourn his passing: Herman and Will Tribon, of Fairbank; and Rheinhardt Tribon of Independence. Mr. Zummak was a devoted member of the Lutheran church. He lived an active, useful life and was a devoted husband and father. An upright, respected citizen, his loss will be keenly felt by the bereaved wife, children, and other relatives, as well as by a large circle of friends and neighbors who mourn with the relatives in the passing of this good man.
