Mrs. Antoinette Smale, 78, of 143 Mohawk St., died of a cerebral hemorrhage at 5:45 a. m. Sunday at the Woodlawn Convalescent Home. She had been ill for three weeks.
The daughter of Nicholas and Mary Bruck, she was born Nov. 2, 1875, at Gilbertville. In 1893 she was married to-George Smale at Rock Island, Ill., where they made their home for 18 months. They moved to Waterloo, from Jesup, 50 years ago.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Maye Murray and Mrs. Evelyn Torpey, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and one brother, John Bruck of Ruthven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in August, 1952; one daughter, Ruth, who died in infancy and a son, Cedric.
The body was taken Monday from the Kistner Funeral Home to the home of a cousin, Mrs. M. J. Becker, 401 Archer St. The rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Monday at the Becker home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a. m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Leo Jaeger will officiate. Burial will be at St. Athanasius cemetery at Jesup.
