Viola "Vi" Virginia Haas, 84, of Hutchinson, passed away Wednesday, March 26, at Hutchinson Health Hospital in Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the church cemetery.

Clergy officiating was Father Jerry Meidl. Organist was Bev Wangerin. Song leader was Bobbi Ludewig. Special music provided by Bill Haas was "I'll Fly Away." Musical selections were "Be Not Afraid," "How Great Thou Art," "Prayer Of St. Francis" and "Song Of Farewell." Honorary bearers were her grandsons, Dan Herdina, Bob Herdina, Sean Ziemer, Scott Ziemer, Alex Haas, Nick Haas and Zach Haas. Urn bearer was Karen Poirot.

Viola "Vi" Virginia Haas was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Omaha, Neb. She was the daughter of Clyde and Florence (Faith) Baker. Vi was baptized and confirmed in her faith, both at Holy Name Catholic Church in Omaha. She received her education at Beachwood County School District 49 in Omaha.

On June 6, 1953, Vi was united in marriage to William "Bill" Haas at Holy Name Catholic Church in Omaha. This marriage was blessed with seven children, Bill, Diana, Cindy, Larry, Debbie, Karen and Tim. Vi and Bill resided in various cities throughout their married life. They moved to Hutchinson in 1970. Vi and Bill shared 61 years of marriage.

Vi was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She also owned and operated Knit One-Krafts Too in the Hutchinson Mall. The shop later moved to downtown Hutchinson. She attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.

Vi enjoyed reading, playing cards and and trips to the casino. She loved music and played the piano, banjo and guitar. Vi was a member of Hillbilly Honeys. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vi passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Hutchinson Health Hospital in Hutchinson, at the age of 84 years.

Vi is survived by her husband, Bill Haas of Hutchinson; children, Bill Haas and his wife, Becky of Hutchinson, Diana Herdina and her husband, William of Buffalo, Cindy Ziemer and her husband, Steve of Hutchinson, Larry Haas and his wife, Ja of Hutchinson, Tim Haas and his wife, Jeanie of Hutchinson, Karen Poirot and her husband, Don of Park Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Florence Baker; daughter, Debbie Haas; sisters, Bessie Barrett, Ethel Clark and Martha Clark; brothers, Gilbert Baker, Robert Baker and Clyde Baker.
