From The Oelwein Daily Register - Jul 7, 1945 (archive is pretty blotchy)
CHASE—WELLS EXCHANGE CHURCH VOWS IN CHURCH RITE

Miss Nelma Fern Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wells of Lamont, became the bride of Loraine F. Chase, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chase of near Oelwein, in a nuptial rite performed by Rev. Christensen in the Methodist church in Lamont Wednesday, July 4th.
The bridal party moved toward the altar banked with peonies and pink and white carnations, to the strains of Mendelssohn's "Wedding March." Other nuptial music during the service was the singing of "Because" and "I Love You Truly" by Miss Doris Barger of Lamont, accompanied by Miss Marjorie Smith, also of Lamont.
The bride was attired in a gold suit with brown accessories; her corsage was of red roses. Miss Shirley Wells, sister of the bride, served as bridesmaid, attired in a blue suit with black accessories and a corsage of roses.
The groom wore a blue suit with a white carnation boutonniere while his attendant, Pfc. Kenneth D. Chase, brother of the groom, was attired in the uniform of the U.S. Army. Jerome Rechkemmer of Oelwein and George Corcoran of Hazelton served as ushers for the occasion. Both ushers also wore white carnation boutonnieres.
The bride's mother was dressed in blue with white accessories while Mrs. Chase wore rose with white accessories. Both ladies had corsages of roses.
Following the exchange of vows, a reception was held for the immediate relatives of the couple in the church parlors. Centerpiece of the reception table was a two-tiered decorated wedding cake.
Hostesses for the courtesy were the Misses Berna Deans Murray, La Donna Hogan, and Mrs. Chas Harrison, all of Lamont; and the Misses Marjorie and Margaret Borber of Waterloo.
