EDGAR SCHMITZ SR.

 

Edgar H. Schmitz Sr., 65, 2767 North Star Fort Loramie Rd., New Weston, died Sunday morning in Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, of complications following surgery.

He was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Shelby, Ohio, son of the late George and Blanche (Fisher) Schmitz.

On Oct. 25, 1952, in Sharpsburg, he married Hilda Kramer, who survives, with nine children: Edgar Jr., Erie, Pa.; Richard, New Weston; Mrs. John (Judith) Wendel, Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; Mrs. Thomas (Jennifer) Zimmer, Peoria, Ill.; Gordon, Rossburg; and Julie, Brenda, Sheila and Bryan, all at home; five brothers and three sisters, Bernard, Fort Recovery; Joseph (Rita) Boeckman, Celina; Paul, Versailles; Robert, Greenfield; Ralph and Cletus, both of New Weston; Mrs. Alfred (Agnes) Heydinger, West Palm Beach, Fla.;. and Mrs. James (Rosemary) Riley, Shelby; and 10 grandchildren.

Two grandchildren are deceased.

Mr. Schmitz was a member and past grand knight of the Fort Recovery Knights of Columbus. He served on the of supervisors of the Darke County Soil and Water Conservation District.

He also was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and the Holy Name Society of the church.

The funeral was held at the church Wednesday, the Rev. Harry Cavanaugh officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Brockman's Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, was in charge of services.
