BURLINGTON

 

Elizabeth M. Ketterhagen, 91, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Pine Brook Pointe, where she had resided the last month.

She was born February 25, 1914, in Libertyville, Ill., to Tim and Clara (nee: Elfering) Vanderwerff. She spent her early life in Libertyville, Ill., then Salem, and finally Burlington, where she had resided since her marriage. On September 29, 1941, at St. Xavier Catholic Church in Brighton, was united in marriage to Ralph J. Ketterhagen. He preceded her in death.

Elizabeth was a graduate of Burlington High School. After graduating, had worked at Burlington Mills. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Holy Dusters. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking and baking and receiving visits from her family and friends. She also enjoyed working in her yard and being outdoors.

Survivors include her sons, Dennis (Carol) Ketterhagen of Wheaton, Ill. and Dan Ketterhagen of Milwaukee. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Tim, Kurt, Kyle (Kate), and Scott; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Vanderwerff, Helen Stiehr, Alvina Vanderwerff, Cy (Zeta) Ketterhagen, Roman (Verna) Ketterhagen, Alice Daniels, and Bernice Ketterhagen; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Loretta Weiler; and by her brothers, John, Ray, Gene, and Leo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, January 16, 2006, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Debski officiating. Burial will follow at Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Vigil. Memorials to St. Mary's Grade School or Catholic Central High School have been suggested.

    The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Pine Brook and the VNA Hospice of Lake Geneva for all the care they showed Elizabeth.
