Thomas Leo Novotny passed away Jan. 25, 2015, in Brownsville, TX. The son of Rudy Novotny and Evelyn Novotny Crowder, he was born Oct. 6, 1961, in Oklahoma City, and has resided in the S. Padre Island area since 1993.

Tom began his career as a life insurance agent at age 19 while a student at OSU, and was named "College Agent of the Year" for Northwestern Mutual Life. He continued in that field as a professional life insurance agent and consultant in both OKC and south Texas. He was a member of Million Dollar Round Table. Other achievements were National Quality Award, National Sales Achievement Award, NML Agency Leader and GAMC Headliner of the Year.

Tommy was a "people person" and enjoyed many friends from all walks of life. This was balanced with a professional skill for the benefit of those he served.

The youngest of four children, he is survived by his mother, Evelyn Crowder; stepfather, James Crowder; sisters, Carolyn Anderson (David Lee) and Jane Moon (K.C.) all of Oklahoma City; daughter, Holly Emerson (Alex) of Georgia; son, Thomas of Texas; his special friend, Sheri Smith of Port Isabel, TX; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Novotny and brother, Steve Novotny.

Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1901 NW 18, OKC, with inurnment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. Evening wake service at 7 p.m., Thursday at Smith & Kernke 23rd Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City (give.catholiccharitiesok.org), or to the charity of your choice.
