SPRING GROVE

 

Vernon E. Miller, 79, of Spring Grove and formerly of Richmond, died Tuesday Dec. 2, 2003, at his home with his family by his side.

He born Dec. 19, 1923, in Richmond, to Nick and Isabell (Tonyan) Miller. He married Audrey Joerndt on Oct. 3, 1953, in Twin Lakes, Wis., and she died June 6, 1986. He married Patricia Busch Rinda on April 21, 1990, in Spring Grove.

He was a farmer in the Richmond area for many years. He then became a heavy equipment operator for Thelan Sand and Gravel for 21 years, before retiring in 1987. He also was a groundskeeper tor Fox Lake Golf Course tor 14 years, and enjoyed golfing for many years.

While in Richmond, he a member of St. Joseph Church where he was an usher and helped with Bingo. He had been a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Spring Grove for the past 13 years.

He was an avid baseball player, pitcher and fan. Known as "Chico," he pitched a perfect game for Miller's Corner team of Richmond.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; four sons, Mark (Barb) Miller of Richmond, Scott (Sally) Miller of Woodstock, Matt (Debra) Miller of Johnsburg, and Jeff (Pam) Miller of Burlington, Wis.; two stepchildren, Philip (Nancy) Rinda of Hudson and Peggy (Scott) Kolb of Beloit. Wis.; 16 grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Thomas of Dover, Del.; a brother, Gordon Miller of Richmond; five sisters-in-law, Jeanette Desmonie of Kenosha, Dolores (Chuck) Walker of Kenosha, Evelyn Elfmann of Richmond, Jeanette (John) Vierke of Spring Grove, and Helen Busch of Spring Grove; and two brothers-in-law, Leon (Pat) Busch of Richmond and Daniel Kennebeck of McHenry.

Along with his first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Kennebeck; a stepgranddaughter, Patricia Rose Rinda; and other relatives, including Kenneth Thomas, Joni Miller, Chuck Desmonie, Larry Elfmann and James Busch.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday. Dec. 5, at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home. 10011 Main St., Richmond.

A Mass of resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Spring Grove. The Revs. Steven Lange and Andrew Plesa will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Richmond.
