Robert John McCarthy, 46, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2002, at his residence following a battle with cancer.

He was born January 18, 1966, in Burlington. He was a resident of Brownwood for 19 years and was a former employee for the City of Brownwood. He married Glenda Leach in Brownwood on April 16, 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Leach McCarthy of Brownwood; a daughter, Amanda Schat of Brownwood; a son, Shane McCarthy of Brownwood; a granddaughter, Kailey Brumalow of Brownwood; father and mother-in-law, B.R. and Naomie Leach of Brownwood; three brothers-in-law, Glenn Leach and wife Sharon of Brownwood, Dayton Leach and wife Robin of Brownwood and Lyndon Leach of Brownwood; a sister-in-law, Sharron Humbert and Jay of Waco, Texas; also surviving are three sisters, Ann Voge and husband Steve of Union Grove, Carol Dexter and husband Gerald of Burlington and Jane McCarthy of Madison; five brothers, Dennis McCarthy and wife Peggy of Paddock Lake, Steven McCarthy and wife Toni of Burlington, Neil McCarthy and wife Joan of Lexington, Ky., Patrick McCarthy and wife Cindy of Stevens Point and Joseph McCarthy and wife Terry of Burlington. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Kathleen McCarthy of Burlington.
