Scholbrock - Swenka Wedding October 20th

On Oct. 20 at ten o'clock in the St. Joseph church in Wadena, Father Dorrance Noonan united in marriage Miss Irene Scholbrock, youngest daughter of Herman Scholbrock, and Theadale Swenka, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Swenka of Riverside.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown with long sleeves and senior train of sheer crepe. Her fingertip veil was attached to a small beaded cap. She wore a double strand of pearls, the gift from the groom. She carried a white rosary and an arm bouquet of white and pink carnations.

The maid of honor was the groom's sister, Mrs. Robert Schaffer of Iowa City, and she wore a yellow taffeta gown with matching tiara. Her bouquet was of yellow chrysanthemums.

Miss Donna Richmond, a friend of the bride from Sumner, served as bridesmaid. She wore an orchid taffeta gown and tiara and a bouquet of orchid mums.

The groom wore a brown suit and was attended by Marcellus Samek, Fayette, and Herbert Scholbrock, brother of the bride. Ushers were Walter Scholbrock of Sheldon, Wis., and Gordon Russell of New Boston, Ill.

A reception for 200 guests was held in the bride's home following the ceremony. The bride's chosen colors of orchid, yellow and green and garden flowers decorated the home. In the evening a dance was held at the Spillville hall.

The bride graduated from Fayette High school with the class of 1946 and has been assisting with the work at home since.

The groom was educated in the Riverside school and served in the armed forces four years, part of the time in the Pacific area.

They will make home on a farm near Oelwein where the groom has been living since spring.
