Donna Lou Scholbrock, 85, of Hawkeye died Thursday Dec. 6 2012 at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein.

Funeral Services will be held December 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, rural West Union. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. December 10, 2012 at Burnham-Wood and S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in West Union and for an hour before the service at the funeral home. The Rosary will be said at 4:00 and a scripture service will be held at 7:00 on Monday. Memorials may be made to the family.

Donna Lou Scholbrock, daughter of Ralph and Darlene (Day) Richmond, was born on July 7, 1927, in rural Waucoma, Iowa. She attended Sumner High School and graduated in 1945. She was united in marriage on June 14, 1948 to Herbert Scholbrock at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. Donna was a homemaker and did various jobs in the area. She was a member and past regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas as well as a member of the Rosary Society at Holy Name Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, doing various crafts, listening to music, playing cards, as well as traveling.

Donna is survived by five children: Dennis (Deb) Scholbrock of Arvada, Colorado; Barbara (Ron) Voshell of Oelwein; Ken (Christie) Scholbrock of Hawkeye; Steven (Inez) Scholbrock of Broomfield, Colorado; and Charles (Joan) Scholbrock of Waucoma. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two siblings: brother, George (Mary) Richmond of Hawkeye and sister, Elaine Richmond of Miles City, Montana; brother-in-law, Walter (Mary) Scholbrock of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law: Rita Manderfield of Fayette and Irene Swenka of Greeley; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 2008; two sons, Don and Randy Scholbrock; sister Edith Kadera; and a sister in infancy.

Monday at 9 a. m., in Immaculate Conception Catholic church Miss Donna Richmond, daughter of Ralph Richmond, became the bride of Herbert Schollbrock, son of Herman Schollbrock, Fayette. Rev. Fr. Herman J. Dietz read the single ring ceremony. Miss Margaret Corkery was the organist.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose for her wedding a gown of white ninon trimmed with Chantilly lace. It was styled with a high neckline with a bertha edged in lace and puff sleeves with lace inserts. The full skirt was joined to the bodice with a double row of lace inserts. Her fingertip veil of illusion net was edged with lace matching that on the gown and it tell from a tiara of pearls and orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and the only jewelry was a gold lavalier, which had belonged to her mother.

Betty Lou Reicks, cousin of the bride from Cresco, was maid of honor, and Miss Mary Huber, Hawkeye, was bridesmaid.

Gene Samek, Fayette, was best man, and George Richmond, brother of the bride, was groomsman.

A wedding breakfast was served 25 guests at the Ritz cafe and in the afternoon was a reception in the bride's home With Mrs. Leonard Kadera, sister bf the bride, Mrs. Ed. O'Brien, Mrs. Ross Woodward, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. E. E. Ladwig, as hostesses. In the evening was a wedding dance in West Union.

The bride has been a rural school teacher in Fayette county the past year. They will be at home on a farm near Maynard where the groom and his lather are engaged in farming.
