Research notes for Loretta

Delayed Birth Record - 1949

Name is technically Mary Loretta, but went by Loretta more often.
Also, she has two sisters named Mary Irene and Mary Edith.

John Swanson is listed in her obit as her nephew. I cannot find this to be true. However, she lived with the same couple for MANY years as a boarder. I think John is the nephew of this couple. [EDIT - Although, I cannot seems to put together HOW John is a nephew of either James OR Catherine...] In 1950 census, she is listed as head and John is a boarder. I assume she was looked at as an "aunt" but not strictly family. Loretta and John are also buried under the same headstone. I have no doubt they were close. They lived together for 30+ years.

But wait! There's more!

From The Bangor Daily News - 07 Jul 1938
Mrs. James McDonald, Miss Loretta Green and John Swanson of Woonsocket, R.I., who have been visiting Miss Irene Green, left Monday for their home.

Why would a landlord and her nephew visit a tenant's sister 280 miles away. There's something between these two families. I just do not know what.
