James Joseph Haiston Sr., 62, passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center, on Friday, Oct. 12. Jim, as he was known to most, was born on Jan. 6, 1950.
He was preceded in death by son Thomas Haiston and is survived by his wife, Cindy Haiston, children James Haiston Jr. of Rapid City, S.D., Darla Burke of Twentynine Palms, Lee Glenk of Whiteman AFB, Mo., Alice Grace of Cherry Point, N.C. and Joshua Haiston of Yuma, Ariz., and by nine grandchildren, Ashlee, Jacob and Jessica Burke, Zodi Driskell, Joey and Anthony Glenk, Emily and Michael Grace and Thomas Jay Haiston.
Jim had been a resident of Twentynine Palms since 1989. He participated as a soccer and basketball coach with the park and recreation department when his children were young.
Memorial services will be held at Palms Baptist Church, 5285 Adobe Road, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Following services, a celebration of life will be held by the family at his home.
