Dorcas Jane Aderman was born on the 3rd of April 1875 on a farm 4 miles southeast of Independence, Buchanan county, Iowa. She was the daughter of Andrew and Hannah Elliott who were early pioneers of Buchanan county, coming here as early settlers from Ohio. She moved with her parents while an infant to the vicinity of Fairbank where they continued to make their home. She was united in marriage to Frank L. Aderman at Waterloo, Iowa, Feb. 8, 1882 to this happy union were born four children, Bessie, Mae, Mrs. Abbie Durham and Alice who preceded her mother to their eternal home June 18, 1917 and Emma. Mr. and Mrs. Aderman first made their home on a farm in Blackhawk county, moving about 6 years later to their farm home in Buchanan county south of Fairbank where they continued to live until 2 years ago when they retired from the farm and made their home in the city of Fairbank. She united with the Methodist church of Fairbank in September 1891 and she has been a loyal faithful consistent member ever since. Mrs. Aderman was well known and will be always remembered as a devoted and sincere Christian woman and mother, her christian character and influence being manifest in the home, the church and the community, all who came in contact with her coming under the beneficial influence will long remember her with deep reverence. A true mother, loving friends and good neighbor, a helper to all in need. She will be greatly missed from our midst. She passed away October 11, 1923. She leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, 3 daughters, Bessie Mae, Mrs. Frank Durham and Emma and one grandchild Emmett Durham, one brother Charles W. Elliott, one sister Mrs. Ira Finch and a very large host of near and distant relatives. For the last few months she has been a great sufferer. In her final illness, but through it all she bore up with true Christian fortitude uncomplaining and ever patient and thoughtful for others frequently declaring her love and confidence in her God and spoke often of the Fathers House and the home prepared where pain and suffering would be no more. Funeral services were held from the home and the Methodist church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock in Fairbank, Iowa of which she has been a member for many years, conducted by her pastor Rev. O. Sandbach the floral offerings were many and beautiful. She was laid to rest by the side of her daughter in the family lot in the fairbank cemetery.
