Mary Ellen Durham, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Private graveside services will be held in the Fairbank Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. Woods Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Ellen was born Oct. 31, 1918, at Farley, to F. Patrick and Della Mae Lyon McCnuniff. She married Emmett Durham on Feb. 24, 1939, at Randalia. Before retirement Macy Ellen was employed by Sun Mart Grocery of Oelwein and Curley's Grocery Store in Fairbank.

Survivors include one son, Howard of Fairbank, and one sister, Marjorie Wolfe of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett in November 1978; and one brother, Marshall McCnuniff.

The family requests memorial contributions be directed in her name to the Fairbank Public Library.
