Kenneth L. Isaacs, 66, of Rock Island, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, after complications from a fall.
Private graveside services will be Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Animal Clinic, Moline.
Mr. Isaacs was born July 25, 1936, in Muscatine, Iowa, son of Lester and Inez Corriell Isaacs. He graduated from Muscatine High School and Muscatine Junior College. Ken graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, with a bachelor of arts degree in 1958. He married Sandra Friedman June 8, 1958.
Ken taught at Washington Junior High School, Rock Island, for 32 years and retired in 1992. In earlier years, he taught at the junior high schools in both DeWitt, Iowa, and Nichols, Iowa. Ken was also a Realtor with the Mel Foster Co. and was well respected as a tax preparer in the area for 40 years.
He was a member of the National Association of Tax Practioners. Ken loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching movies, gardening, his pets and driving his convertible. Ken's favorite thing was hanging out with his wife.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jack Selsor, Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Michelle Isaacs, Rock Island, and Greg and Sharon Isaacs, Schaumburg, Ill.; six grandchildren; and sisters, Marion Meadows, Elgin, Ill., and Virginia Highbarger, Potomac, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents.
