Nora J. Campion, daughter of Richard Campion and Mary (O'Rourke) Campion, was born in Eyota township April 29, 1873. She was one of a family of ten children, six girls and four boys. On April 25, 1899, she was united in marriage to Wm. P. Daly of Haverhill township. To this union were born five children, Paul Daly, now of Rochester; Mary (Mrs. Joe Clemens) of Dover township; Julia, Nora, and William, Jr. at home. In 1921 Mrs. Daly was afflicted by a stroke of Paralysis, from which she never fully recovered and early in the year the effects of this malady began to show. All that kind hearts and loving hands could do for her was of no no avail and on Sunday, July 25th, 1926, at 3:15 p.m., the tired heart ceased to beat, and she passed to the "Great Beyond."
She leaves to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother, the husband, Wm. P. Daly. and the five children mentioned above, all of whom were with her at the time of her death. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Murphy of Venice, Calif.; Mrs. J. P. Martin of Epiphany, S. D.; and Mrs. J. A. Lehnert, Howard, S. D; three brothers, M. J. Campion, Los Angeles; Chas. H. Campion, Chicago; and Edward R. Campion, Portland, Ore. Those of the immediate family who preceded her in death are her mother, who died in 1890; Richard, her father, in 1898; Katie, a sister, who died when a small child; Josie (Mrs. T. J. Zens), Epiphany. S. D., in 1922; C. C. Campion, a brother, who died in 1925.
Rev. D. E. Wilson of Rochester, conducted the funeral service Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Redeemer church of Eyota, and interment was made in Holy Redeemer cemetery at Eyota. The pall bearers were M. Keefe, Joseph Manahan, Theodore Steinmetz, James Watts, Jerry Walsh, and D. T. Hanrahan.
Those from a distance who attended the last sad rites were Mrs. J. P. Martin, Mrs. John Zens, and T. J. Zens, Epiphany, S. D.; Mrs. J. A. Lehnert, Howard, S. D.; D. J. Murphy, Minneapolis; Mrs. Thomas McPhillips, Angela Teahan, Jake, and Adolph Nillis, and Mr. and Mrs. John Ginderger, St. Charles
The funeral procession, the largest ever held from the Eyota parish, was made up of friends and relatives from Stewartville, Rochester, Simpson, Chatfield, and Eyota.
Out of respect for Mrs. Daly. all the business houses of Eyota were closed during the funeral.
Mrs. Daly was an exemplary character. To know her was to love her, and her memory will be cherished not only by her relatives, but by all who came in contact with her. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family.
