Paul Francis Mueller, 91, of Sioux City went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Cremation will follow the services Monday, and burial will be at a later date in La Porte, Minn. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Paul was born on April 21, 1915. in Burlington, Wis., the son of Frank and Josephine (Schemmer) Mueller. He was raised in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School.

He married Mildred Mae Nisen on Jan. 13, 1940, in Burlington, Wis. After their marriage, the couple lived in several different locations in the Midwest. They lived in Sioux City from 1959 until 1961. Mildred died on July 13, 1978, in Park Rapids, Minn.

He married Kathryn Daman on June 6, 1981, in Wakuon, Iowa. She died on Feb. 24, 2006, in Waukon. Paul worked as a florist as a young man in his father's greenhouse. For 33 years, he served as a freight agent for the Milwaukee Railroad. After he retired, they moved to their lake home in Park Rapids, Minn. In recent years, Paul had lived with his daughter and her husband, Margaret and Bill Wallace in the Twin Cities. Two years ago, he moved to Sioux City to live with his daughter and her husband, Mary Ellen and Dennis Hicklin.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Knights of Columbus. His faith played a very important part in his life. He held a special devotion to the rosary. Paul loved golf, the outdoors, nature and the animals. He also loved to sing and was a member of his church's choir. He had served as a volunteer fireman. What he loved most was spending time with his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include five children, Susan Kipling of Beloit, Wis., Mary Ellen and Dennis Hicklin of Sioux City, Mararet and Bill Wallace of Burnsville, Minn., Bill and Mary Beth Mueller of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Fritz and Sandie Mueller of Ramsey, Minn.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Mikletton of Rockford, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; and three sisters and a brother, Mary Scarvaci, Mona Lake, Helen Bonesho and Father Frank Mueller.

Pallbearers will be Matt Mueller, Nick Mueller, Josh Mueller, Mike Carter, Dan Hicklin, Tim Hicklin, Tom Hicklin and Scott Carter.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Paul's name.

Mildred Nisen Becomes Bride Of Paul Mueller

Miss Mildred Mae Nisen, daughter Of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Nisen, Union Grove, became the bride of Paul F. Mueller, 522 Pine street, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mueller, this morning. The ceremony was performed in St. Mary's church, Burlington, at 9 a. m. by Rev. Mark J. Mueller, Racine, a brother of the bridegroom, in the presence of relatives and friends. The church was decorated in pink for the occasion.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a cloud-blue sheer wool ensemble with platinum blue fox reveres, and a dusty pink hat. Her flowers were a corsage of orchid, and she carried a rosary, a gift from the bridegroom.

Miss Mary Mueller, a sister of the bridegroom was maid of honor. Miss Mueller wore a glamour green sheer wool ensemble with biege fox and a biege hat. She carried Rubrum lilies.

Robert Cook attended the bridegroom as best man. Art Roesing and Roman Eckert were ushers.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, which was decorated with bouquets of spring flowers. About 150 attended. A wedding breakfast was served to a party of 40 at the bride's home.

Mrs. and Mrs. Mueller will reside at 669½ Pine street.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Al Plate, Milwaukee; Phillip Schemmer, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Nisen, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Thielen and Catherine, Racine; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Upson, Hammond, Ind., and Mrs. John Reder, Milwaukee.
