Dorothy A. Schlitz, 91, passed away on Friday, March 5, 1999, at Franciscan Woods Nursing Home, Brookfield.
She was born in Burlington on March 17, 1907, daughter of William and Mary Busch. Her early life was spent in Wheatland. On June 24, 1930, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, she was married to George L. Schlitz, who preceded her in death on October 28, 1995. Following their marriage, they lived in Wheatland and Randall. Dorothy and her husband owned and operated Wheatland Store for 41 years, until retirement in 1974. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in New Munster, Catholic Order of Forresters and Kenosha Homemakers.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Donald) Dietz of Grayslake, Ill.; three sons, Leroy (Patricia) Schlitz of Milwaukee, Roman (Barbara) Schlitz of Houghton Lake and Dave (Kathy) Schlitz of Green Bay; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ruth Busch of Burlington; one brother, Robert (Rosemary) Busch of Burlington as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; daughter, Roberta Schlitz; three brothers, Albert, Francis and William Busch and two sisters, Edna Richter and Armella Kerkman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, with Rev. Luis Pacheco-Sanchez officiating. Interment will be at the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in New Munster. Family and friends may call on Monday, March 8, 1999, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, from 4 until 8 p.m. There will be a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials to St. Alphonsus Grade School have been suggested.
