Charles "Jack" McCourt
BURLINGTON

 

Charles "Jack" McCourt, 69, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 12, 1997.

He was born in Burlington on March 15, 1928, son of Charles Lawrence and Laura Mary (nee: Busch) McCourt. He was a lifelong resident of Burlington. On October 16, 1954, in St. Joseph's Church Lyons, he was united In marriage to Marilyn Rita Miller.

He served in the United States Army in Japan during World War II. He received his education from St. Mary's Grade and High School, Burlington and graduated in 1946. He retired from Southern Wisconsin Center, also worked for the Town of Burlington Highway Department for 16 years and was Owner/Operator of Lightning Rod Protection Company of Burlington. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church Burlington, a member of Anderson Murphy VFW Post #2833, past President of Burlington Conservation Club, retired member of Town of Burlington Fire Department Company #2. Jack enjoyed the outdoors and was a very active hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing card.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn McCourt of Burlington; three daughters, Sandy Krueger of Westminster, Colo., Kim (Brian) Spencer of Goodman, and Jackie McCourt of Burlington; 2 sons, Todd (Nancy) McCourt of Oconto Falls and Jon McCourt of Burlington; five grandchildren, Kelly and Molly McCourt, John, Andrew and Elizabeth Spencer; two sisters, Rosemary Granger of Williams Bay, and Kathleen (Richard) McCarthy of Gleason; two brothers, James (Jane) McCourt of Burlington and Arthur (Sue) McCourt of New Berlin. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Burlington, on Tuesday, December 16, 1997, at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Michael Petersen officiating. His Body is being donated to Wisconsin Medical College, Madison. Friends may call at the Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 until 6:45 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to VNA Home, Health and Hospice or St. Mary's Grade School.
