Sr. Vivian Richter O.P., 89, passed away at Lakeshore Manor, Racine, on Thursday, February 16, 2006. Evelyn Regina Richter was born January 4, 1917, to Theodore and Rose (nee: Spieker) Richter in Burlington. On December 16, 1934, she joined the Racine Dominicans and at her reception in 1935, she was given the religious name, Sr. Vivian. She professed her first vows in 1937 and her final vows in 1943. Sr. Vivian spent many years in service to others in food service and sewing. She began her ministry in 1934 at St. Rita, Racine. She also ministered at St. Anne's Home, Aquin Hall, and St. Catherine's Convent in Racine. Other places in Wisconsin where she served were Holy Angels and St. Benedict the Moor, Milwaukee; Our Lady of the Oaks, Pewaukee; and St. John, Little Chute. She also served in Michigan, Nebraska, and Illinois. She became a resident at Siena Center in 1967, where she continued in food service and sewing clothing for the poor. From 1982 until 2002, she volunteered in the Senior Companion Program. In April, 2005, she became a resident of Lakeshore Manor, Racine. Sr. Vivian is survived by the Racine Dominican Sisters and Associates; her sister, Lorraine (Robert) Daniels; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers Clarence and Albert; and her sister, Loretta. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Siena Center Chapel Monday, February 20, 2006, at 6:15 p.m. Visitation will be at the chapel on Monday from 2 p.m. until time for the Liturgy with a Remembering service at 4:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32.
