Martin S. Friesen

 

Martin S. Friesen, 69, 3901 W. 19th St., died Saturday in the Veterans Hospital in Houston, Texas after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City. The Rev. Robert P. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in McCook Cemetery with graveside services conducted by VFW Post 580 and DAV Chapter 54. A scripture service will be at 7 p.m. today in the Berkemier Funeral Home.

Mr. Friesen was born Nov. 5, 1914, at Dolton, S.D. He moved to Rock Valley, Iowa as a child. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1940 until 1945. He married Edith Werner June 22, 1944, at Metropolis, Ill. They came to Sioux City in 1945. He operated Friesen Barber Shop for many years and was later employed at Zenith Corp for a number of years. In recent years, he was employed by Gates Rubber Co.

Mr. Friesen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a life member of VFW Post 580 and DAV Chaper 54.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Richard of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Margaret) Foster of Sioux City and two grandchildren.
