Raymond Richter

Raymond T. Richter, 93, of Brighton Township, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Aurora Memorial Hospital-Burlington.

Born in rural Burlington on Feb. 3, 1922, he was the son of Frank and Verna (nee Epping) Richter. He spent his entire life in the Kenosha County area where he attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from Burlington High School.

On June 9, 1945, at St. Charles Church in Burlington he married the love of his life, Marion Weis. They have been lifelong residents of the Burlington area where they raised their family. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Ray was a farmer for 10 years, but was a farmer at heart his entire life. In 1950 he was incapacitated with polio and confined to a wheel chair. Being the determined man he was, he never let his handicap interfere with performing a task or meeting a challenge. Ray was a bookkeeper/salesman for Burlington Farm Implement selling John Deere equipment and GMC trucks; a job he remained at for 39 years. He was also secretary/treasurer of the Pure Milk Association for 17 years.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marion; children, David (Marge) Richter, Peter (Dolly) Richter and Donna (John Carpenter) Kraehnke; grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Don) Meyer; brothers-in-law, Bill Weis and Bob (Sue) Weis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lucille (Herb) Lois and Lorena (John) Wiemer; brothers-in-law, Francis (Lunetta), Lloyd (Betty), and Art (Grace) Weis; and sister-in-law, Betty Weis.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ray will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Terry Langley officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
