Leon A. Kerkman, 60, 229 W. Spring Drive, Twin Lakes, died of a sudden illness Tuesday afternoon while driving his car in Twin Lakes. The son of the late Henry and Clara (Epping) Kerkman, he was born Oct. 10, 1920, in New Munster.
He married Rosemary Ketterhagen April 21, 1942, in New Munster.
A prominent Twin Lakes businessman, he and his wife operated Village Realty, Inc., in Twin Lakes for the past 14 years. He was a former partner in the Kerkman Brothers Construction Co.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Twin Lakes, the Commentators, Men's Club, and Building and Finance Committee of the church; Twin Lakes Council 6554 of the Knights of Columbus; Twin Lakes Sportsman's Club; Walworth County Board of Realtors; and the Western Racine County Board of Realtors.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, Jerome, Route 5. Burlington; a daughter, Joanne, Northridge. Calif.; two grandchildren; four brothers, Marcell, Union Grove; Francis, New Munster; and James and Stanley, Burlington; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Siehoff, Burlington.
KERKMAN-Funeral mass for the late Mr. Leon A. Kerkman, of Twin Lakes, WI. who passed away Tuesday afternoon, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Johns Catholic Church in Twin Lakes. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the Haase Funeral Chapel in Twin Lakes from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday where the parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, masses or memorials to the Twin Lakes Rescue Squad appreciated.
