RAYMOND F. (ROY) KASKIE

 

Funeral mass for Raymond F. (Roy). Kaskie, 85, longtime Mitchell resident, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening at Murphy Funeral Home with holy scripture service at 8p.m. He died Sunday at a local, hospital.

He was born May 15, 1894, to Mr. and Mrs. William Kaskie at Rock Valley, Iowa. He had been a Mitchell resident since 1921. He worked for Railway Express Co. until his retirement, and then with Bauer's Clothing and Small's Clothing. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in promoting Junior Legion baseball in Mitchell.

He was married to Odelia Mutziger O'Rourke at Sioux Falls on February 3, 1923 .

Survivors include his widow; step-daughter, Julia VanLoan, Brewster, Wash.; a son, Myles. Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Elaine in 1936 and Joyce in 1938, two sisters. and three brothers.
