Lawrence J. Kerstiens

 

Lawrence John Kerstiens, 78, 313 Commerce St., Loretto, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 16 1995, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Ala., after a brief illness.

He was a native of Lawrence County, Tenn.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Loretto Memorial Chapel, Loretto. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Officiating at the funeral will be Father Matthew Cheeramkuzhy, C.M.I., and Deacon Sammy Beckman.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred O'Connor Kerstiens, Loretto; sons, Michael Joseph Kerstiens, Larry Kerstiens Jr., both of Ohio; brothers, Ed Kerstiens, Lawrenceburg, Charles Kerstiens, Albert Kerstiens, both of Loretto; sister, Tersesa Beckman, Donelson; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara Beyke Kerstiens, brothers, Joe Kerstiens and George Kerstiens, and sister, Mary Rohling.

He was retired from the Navy and Murray Ohio Manufacturing Co. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran, a member of Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, and American Legion Post 146.
