Mildred Marie Marnach

 

Mildred "Millie" Marnach, age 85 of Ashton, IA died Monday, July 28, 2008, at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 31st at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton, IA, with Father John Vakulskas, celebrating.

Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Ashton, IA.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30th from 3:00 - 8:00 PM, with a Rosary service at 4:00 PM and a Parish Wake service at 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Ashton.

Mildred Marie (Richter) Marnach was born April 15, 1923, at Ashton, IA the daughter of Louis and Anna (Hatting) Richter. Mildred grew up in Ashton and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School. On June 1, 1943, she was united in marriage to Victor Marnach at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ashton. They made their home on a farm at Emery, SD, where they started their family and worked the land. In 1958, she and her family moved to Little Falls, MN where they continued to farm until moving to Sheldon to operate the mobile home court on the west side of Sheldon. They later moved back to Little Falls, MN for an additional time before moving to Ashton. Mildred was a hard worker. She was always involved in the farming operation, tending to her family and the farm. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The only job, Mildred held off of the farm was hauling mail from town to town and she did this for a while when she lived in Sheldon. Mildred enjoyed working with her hands; she was an excellent knitter, embroiderer and crocheter. During her life she was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the "One Hundred Club" in Ashton. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and having coffee with her friends. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and also enjoyed playing cards. Mildred became a resident of Country View Manor in April of 2008 and this past Monday morning, July 28, 2008, Mildred died at the age of eighty-five.

She is survived by her two children, Don and his wife, Lupe Marnach of Orangevale, CA; and Donna and her husband, Ben Kuklock of Little Falls, MN; three granddaughters, Jacqueline and her husband, Bobby Masullo of Folsom, CA; Ann Marie Kuklock of Little Falls, MN and Jennifer Marnach of San Francisco, CA; two great grandsons, Davis and Ethan; along with a brother-in-law, Wilfred and his wife, Bernice Marnach of Sioux Falls, SD; sisters-in-law, Marian Richter of Sheldon, IA; Irene Richter of Ashton, IA; Kathleen Richter of Sioux Fall, SD; Marcella Marnach of Ashton, IA and Lorranie Marnach of Sioux Falls, SD.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Anna; her husband, Victor; brothers, Clarence, Alvin, Bernard, Elmer and Norbert; and sister, Marcella Luton.
