Funeral services for George Sommerfelt 84, Independence. will be held Wednesday 1:30 p.m. at the White Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery. Music will be by Lillian Cue and Mrs. Ronald Lentzkow.

Casket bearers will be Dale Henderson, Art Doan, William Ciesielski, Larry Snyder, William E Brown and Leroy Wieser.

Sommerfelt died Saturday at the Independence Care Center. He was born March 27, 1895, in Buchanan County, the son of Julius and Henrietta Quackmeier Sommerfelt. He was married to Nettie D. Trebon July 19, 1926 at Hazleton. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Sheehah-Tidball American Legion Post No. 30.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie; one son, Elmer Sommerfelt, Paw Paw, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Blaine Hansen, Independence; Mrs. Daniel Harbert, Vero Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Orin Poppe, Nashua; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A military memorial, service will be held Tuesday 7:30 p.m., at the White Funeral Home, where friends may call.
