Leslie Lavern Matthias, 61, of Readlyn, Iowa, died on Thursday, February, 3, 2011 at his home in Readlyn.
Leslie was born on September 10, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Lavern and Esther Marion (Diercks) Matthias. He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1967. He was married to Linda Wegner from 1971-1997. He farmed with his father on the family farm and when his dad retired he continued farming. Leslie retired from farming when he moved to Readlyn.
Leslie is survived by his two daughters, Erin Matthias of Readlyn, Iowa; and April (Dave) Doyle of Evansdale, Iowa; four grandchildren, James, John Michael, Clayton, and Adrian; two brothers, Harvey (Susan) Matthias of Smithland, Iowa; and Richard Matthias of Readlyn, Iowa; four sisters, Linda Netski of Las Vegas, Nevada; Marlene (Darel) Kuhlmann of Dunkerton, Iowa; Lois (Jim) Peters of Tripoli, Iowa; Ellen (Randy) Althouse of Postville, Iowa; his step mother, Velma Matthias of Frederika, Iowa; and his wife, Sonia Hamilton-Matthias of Westmoreland, Negril, Jamaica.
According to Leslie's wishes, his body has been cremated. His family will greet friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Readlyn. Memorials may be directed to the family.
