Raymond R. Leary, 75, of Independence, died Tuesday, July 23, at Covenant Medical Center Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Erma; five daughters, Joan Oliphant of Vinton, Betty Decker of Walker, Janice Morris of Rowley, Joyce Decker of Lago Vista, Texas, and Chris Johnson of Independence; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd of Freeport, Ill., and Robert of Oelwein; and two sisters, Gwen Baldwin of Jesup and Ramona Forney of Vienna, Va.; he was preceded in death by a granddaughter; he was a retired farmer; services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Independence, with burial in Cedar Crest Cemetery; friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
