Funeral rites for Ernst A. Hertel, 62, a lifelong resident of Lake County, were conducted Saturday. Mr. Hertel died last week at a nursing home operated by his mother-in-law in Beloit, Wis., after an illness of nine months.

Mr. Hertel, who lived at First St., Libertyville, was last employed at the National Brick Co., Deerfield. He is survived by his widow, Mildred; one daughter, Edna of California, and Wilbert, Half Day; a stepson, Robert Gruenwald, Libertyville; his mother Mrs. Anna Ernst of California, four brothers and a sister at Elkhorn, Wis.
