Yvonne F. "Vonnie" Doucette, 75, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at her home in Lake Hallie after a lengthy and courageous battle with Pulmonary Disease surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 21, 1935, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Louis and Gertrude (Trebon) Gettler. She graduated from McDonell Memorial High School in 1953. She was joined in marriage to Gene Doucette on October 15, 1955, at Notre Dame Church and together they raised six children.
Vonnie worked for the Chippewa school district for 25 years in food service. She loved painting, crafts, bird watching and tending to her flowers and plants. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; five children, Keith (Anna) Doucette of Clinton, Iowa, Michele (Kim) Kaiser of Marshfield, Patrice (Ryan) Nelson of Edina, Minn., Daniel (Julie) Doucette of DeForest, Wis. and Denise (Todd) Rauchman of St. Louis Park, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores (Bob) Collins of Mesa, Ariz., Darlene Borton of Eau Claire, and Carole (Bob) Marsolek of Rochester, Minn.; and one brother, Louis (Mary) Gettler of Chippewa Falls; and her special feline companion, Misty.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark in 1998; her parents; and siblings, Joseph Gettler in infancy, Joyce Gettler, Norma Gettler, Bernard Gettler, Marie Krause and Dorothy Figlmiller.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Justin Kizewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Burial of cremains will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 18, and until 10 a.m. Saturday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Northwest Hospice Nurses, especially Diane Bergquist; Mary Johnson of the Eau Claire Pain Clinic; and a very special friend, Carla Prince.
We will dearly miss her special friendship, sense of humor and indomitable spirit.
