Marie Kotz, 92, Presho, died Monday, November 21, 2005 at the New Life Boarding House in Presho.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 25, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho with burial held at the Holy Angels Cemetery. Marie was born on October 22, 1913 in Vivian, South Dakota to Adolph and Alpolonia (Schoulte) Regennitter. She attended country school south of Vivian and graduated from Vivian High School in 1934. She then went on to receive her teaching certificate from Notre Dame in Mitchell, SD. She taught in various country schools for nine years.

Marie was united in marriage to Roy Kotz on May 29, 1944 at Holy Angels Church in Vivian, SD. They lived north of Kennebec for one year. Then in 1945 they purchased a farm south of Presho. After Roy's death in 1978 Marie moved to Presho. In September of 2005 she moved to New Life Boarding House where she was currently living.

Marie enjoyed gardening and canning what she grew. She also loved baking and cooking which she did all her life. She enjoyed playing cards especially 10-point pitch. She was very active in Christ the King Catholic Church and Presho Senior Citizens.

Marie is survived by one daughter Mary Kotz of Black Hawk, SD one son Dennis and his wife Linda Kotz of Des Moines, IA, two grandchildren Patricia (Kotz) and husband Mike Catlin of Valparaiso, IN and Jason Kotz of Miami Beach, FL, two great grandchildren Rylee and Cooper Catlin, five sisters Grace Fredrickson of Sebeka, MN, Esther Mildon of Rapid City, SD, Rita Schwartz of St. Laborg, NE, Phyllis Mannhalter of Rapid City, SD, and Marguerite Giedd, of Ocoma, SD She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, daughter Lois (Kotz) Feltis and son-in-law Rick Feltis.
