Mary L. Platt, 67, of 2428 Manor St., died Saturday, Jan. 4, at Covenant Medical Center of a heart attack.

She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Dunkerton, daughter of John and Hattie Eschen Renz. She married Glenn Buchanan on Feb. 24, 1952, in Dunkerton. He died July 29, 1959. She later married Robert G. Platt on March 10, 1962, in Dunkerton.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Mark Buchanan of Bella Vista, Calif.; four daughters, Bonnie Nesset of Bettendorf, Berniece Hostetler of Des Moines, Esther Rusch of Shellsburg and Martha Platt of Chatham, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and a sister, Esther Hansen of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Bonita Platt; a sister, Ruth Renz; and a brother, Kenneth Renz.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Waterloo, with burial at 10 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, where there will be an 8 p.m. prayer service.
