DEATH OF MARTIN KASKIE

 

Martin Kaskie whose death was mentioned in last weeks Bee, was born in Buchanan county, Iowa, September 27, 1885, and died at the home of his mother Mrs. M. Kaskie west of Rock Valley Wednesday, March 17, 1920, aged 34 years, 5 months and 19 days. He had always enjoyed good health until last September when he went to Sioux Falls for an operation. Last winter he contracted influenza and other complications developed which was the cause of his death.

When he was three years old he came with his parents to this vicinity. They settled on a farm west of Rock Valley where he grew to manhood and lived until eight years ago when he bought a farm near Gary, S.D., where he lived until he was taken sick last September.

He was married eight years ago to Miss Margaret Maher of Gary, S.D., who with his mother and brothers and sisters survive him.

The deceased was a hard working young man and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a kind husband and a good neighbor and citizen and will be greatly missed in the neighborhood where he lived.

Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon from St. Marys church in this city and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.
