Pioneer Teacher Dies at 99

 

Millie Caroline Ellerbrock, 99, a resident of the Carroll Manor and a pioneer school teacher, died at 4:15 p.m. at the Carroll Manor, where she had resided since Feb. 3, 1975.

Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church in Carron with the Rev. Msgr. Leo Lenz, V.F., officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Auburn, under the direction of the Twit Funeral Home, Carroll.

Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 3 p.m. by Catholic Daughters of America and 8 p.m. at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll.

Miss Ellerbrock, daughter of Ferdinand and Anna Schwear Ellerbrock Sr., was born on July 6, 1878 at Grant City, Iowa. She received her education in the Auburn Public Schools and attended schools in Cedar Falls, and Greeley, Colo. She was a teacher for over 50 years and taught in schools in Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Church, St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sisters; Sr. Mary Edith of Normandy, Mo. and Mrs. Herbert (Christine) Herke of Fonda.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William and Ferdinand and two sisters; Mrs. John (Margaret) Portman and Sr. M. Phaddeus.
