Katherine Bogaard, 98, of Rock Valley died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. There will be a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Bogaard was born Nov. 14, 1902, in Rock Valley, the daughter of James and Mary (Keegan) Lowery. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy.
She married Cornelius Bogaard in 1929 in Chicago. The couple made their home in Rock Valley, where she was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone for 10 years. Her husband died Jan. 28, 1977. She entered Valley Manor in July 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Keegan and Helen Qualls, both of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald "Patrick," and two sisters, Anna Mae Dorsey and Veronica Johnson.
