Funeral services for Clem Scholbrock were held Saturday, December 26, at he Assumption Catholic Church; The Rev. Michael Tauke officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Clem, 93, died Wednesday, December 23, 1998 at the Colonial Manor in Elma, where he has made his home since July 31, 1996.
Clem Fred Scholbrock was born on January 28, 1905 near Festina, the son of Clemens and Anna (Lechtenberg) Scholbrock. He attended school in Festina and returned home as a young man to help on the farm, As he got older he hired out on various farms.
On February 7, 1934, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Holthaus at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Festina. They lived on the farm near Festina and moved to a farm in the Cresco area in 1949, and after raising their five children they retired and moved into Cresco in the fall of 1973.
After retiring, Clem helped out by doing maintenance work for the church.
Survivors include four children: Ivanell Zobeck of Waukon, Orville of Charles City, Beverly Svestka of Protivin, and Wayne of Cresco; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert at Colonial Manor in Elma; and one sister, Louise Reicks at Colonial Manor in Elma.
Clem was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy on June 20, 1986; one son, Lowell; three brothers: Herman, Joseph and William; and four sisters: Linda Kipp, Mathilda Baumler, Ann Elpert and Mary Scholbrock.
