Peacefully at home on Sunday, February 15, 2015, Marty was called home to eternal rest at the age of 83. Loving husband of Judy Hawes-Lawlis. Cherished father of Joan (Rick McWhinnie), Maureen, Patricia (Kevin Madge), Michael, Paul (Janet) and Margaret (Richard Moss). Proud grandfather of Chris, Lisa, Scott (McWhinnie); Brendan (Mears); Mark, Ryan, Andrea, Kaylea (Donovan); Josh, Annie-Rose (Mears); Alex, Sean (Mears); Andrew, Jessica, Justin (Moss); and great-grandfather of Jackson (Mears). Stepfather to Dr. Cathy Lawlis (Kerry Johnston), Ken Lawlis (Elsie), Mary Lawlis (Richard Markle), Allen Lawlis (Jennifer), Jennifer Lawlis (Abraham Villarreal Pena) and step-grandfather of eleven children. Marty was predeceased by his first wife of 40 years. Eileen Cameron, his parents Napoleon Mears and Laura Bergin, his brother George and his sister Audrey. He will be missed by sister-in-law Lillian Mears and brother-in-law Joe Hickey and a wide circle of extended family and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their compassionate care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Ottawa-Regional Cancer Foundation or the St. John the Apostle Building fund would be appreciated. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Kelly Funeral Home 580 Eagleson Rd., Kanata, ON K2M IH4 613-591-6580 Friday, February 20, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will gather for a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Saturday, February 21 to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 2340 Baseline Rd., Ottawa for Mass of Christian Funeral at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Phillip's Cemetery, Richmond Ontario in the Spring.
