Miss Catherine Schemmer

 

Miss Catherine Mary Schemmer, 74, a sister of the Rev. George A. Schemmer, New Holstein, died at 6:30 p. m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary rectory at New Holstein.

The daughter of the late Bernard and Caroline Schemmer, the deceased was born Dec. 2, 1872, at Burlington, Wis., and in 1881 moved to Clintonville with her parents. She attended St. Rose Catholic school and the Clintonville High school.

The family moved to Chilton in 1926. For the past 38 years, Miss Schemmer served as housekeeper for her brother, Father Schemmer, now pastor of Holy Rosary parish.

Survivors include two brothers, the Rev. Father Schemmer, and Dr. A. L. Schemmer, Colby, Wis.; two sisters, Mary and Josephine Schemmer, New Holstein, and a nephew, John Carl Schemmer, New York City.

Funeral services will be held at at 10 a. m. Saturday at Holy Rosary church, and burial will be made in St. Mary's cemetery, Chilton. The body will lie in state at the rectory from this evening until the time of the services.

The rosary will be recited at Holy Rosary church at 8 p. m. today and Friday.
