LaVerne Rose Drissel
PARIS

LaVerne Rose Drissel passed away peacefully at Brookside Care Center, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the age of 87, joining her husband and many family and friends at the card table.

Born in Brighton, WI on July 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Richter) Daniels. LaVerne attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School, Brighton and was a graduate of Burlington High School.

On October 2, 1943 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she was married to Jerome T. Drissel. Born to them were five children; three boys and two girls. Jerome passed away on June 7, 1991.

LaVerne worked at Coopers in Kenosha, and later became a housewife and farmwife.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and their Christian Mothers Alter Society, and the Kenosha County Extension Homemakers.

LaVerne enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard. She loved to play sheepshead, cribbage and liked the challenge of completing word puzzles. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Packer fan and had fun spending many Sunday nights shooting darts with the Good Time Sunday Night Dartball League. LaVerne devoted her life to her family and her greatest joy were her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to remember LaVerne are her five children, Marvin (Dolores) Drissel of Paris, WI, Beverly Drissel and Norman (Kathy) Drissel, both of Kenosha, Keith (Judy) Drissel and Debbie (Steve) Sendelbach both of Paris, WI; her ten grandchildren, Michelle Stratton, Melissa (Jason) Sweatman, Toni (fiancé Adrien Ludwig) Drissel, Teri (Barry) Woods, Jerome (Amy) Drissel, Sid (Angie) Drissel, Deanna (Zack) Kovar, Nik (Tricia) Sendelbach, Josh (Shauna) Sendelbach and Jessica Sendelbach; and her ten great-grandchildren, Nikki, Alyssa, Abigail, Owen, Elle, Nora, Henry, Dean, Ben and Sofia.

She is further survived by her sister, Edna Reiter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Daniels and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Daniels; three sisters, Lunetta (Francis) Weis, Doris (Harry) Mich and Loyola (Ed) Wack; and a brother-in-law, Wendolyn Reiter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 1501 172nd Avenue (Hwy D). Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 or St. John the Baptist Church would be appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookside Care Center, Hospice Alliance, Inc., Nancy Knudson and Debbie Kreye, for their kindness and loving care they gave LaVerne and the entire family. They were greatly appreciated.
