Eugene J. "Gene" Robers
BURLINGTON

 

Eugene J. "Gene" Robers, 86 passed away May 10, 2012 at St. Luke's in Milwaukee. He was born May 8, 1926 to Leonard and Frances (nee Kresken) Robers in Brighton Township where he spent his early life dairy farming. Gene attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from Wilmot High School. On February 4, 1948 he was united in marriage to the late Eleanor Epping at St. Alphonsus in New Munster. Following their marriage they resided in Brighton for 7 years then moved to Spring Grove, IL for 11years, farming in both locations. She preceded him in death in 1980. Gene lived and worked as a house mover for 20 years in Silver Lake. In 1986 he moved to Burlington where he worked for AMPI for 13 years. Gene was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church from1966-1986 and currently is a member of St. Charles Parish. Gene loved spending time with his family and his long time "best friend" Ardith Rowntree. He enjoyed sports, especially the Brewers, Packers and NASCAR. He always looked forward to his trip to Hayward to go fishing and visit his high school friend. Gene enjoyed playing cards and could never turn down a good game of Euchre. Gene is survived by his children: Lynne (John) Bucci of Nicholasville, KY; Karen (Rick) Sarbacker of Bassett; Ruth (Rion) Clark of Silver Lake; Mary Kay(Marshall) Stoxen of Silver Lake; Tom ( Jackie) Robers of Lyons; Kathy (Jack) Robers-Bowen of Des Plaines, IL. And by his grandchildren: Kim Shelton, Michelle Schlafer, Kristen Gauger, Eric Sarbacker, Wes Clark, Dane Clark, Katie Stoxen, Kyle Stoxen, Tyler Stoxen, Jordan Robers, Garrett Robers, and Gretchen Robers. And also by his great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Gabe and EJ Schlafer, Mackenzie Karow and Elliot Sarbacker, Andrew Clark, Luke and Sawyer Shelton and Billy Gauger. He is further survived by his siblings Lillian (Robert) VanLiere, Lorraine (J. Donald) VanLiere and Tony (JoAnn) Robers and brother-in-law to many. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Eleanor. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:00PM at St. Charles with Rev. Steve Amann officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2:00PM until 5:30PM also at St. Charles. Private burial will take place in Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Wilmot. Eugene J. "Gene" Robers, 86 passed away May 10, 2012 at St. Luke's in Milwaukee.
