Clarence P. Fonk, 72, 7921 Cooper Rd., died Saturday morning following a sudden illness while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Ronald Kole, in Buena Park, Calif.
He was born June 27, 1898, in Paris Township, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew J. Fonk. He was a graduate of the Wisconsin Agricultural School of Madison.
Mr. Fonk was a salesman for Murphy Feed Co. of Burlington from 1930 to 1932 and then began the Fonk Poultry Farm and Hatchery which he operated until 1963 when he retired. He was a pioneer in Quality Egg Production and a member of the Wisconsin Poultry and Hatchery Association.
Mr. Fonk was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
On June 18, 1929, he married Celeste Richter.
She survives him. He is also survived by a son, Ronald C. Fonk, Kenosha; seven daughters, Mrs. Charles N. (Betty) Riley, Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Frederick, Mrs. James (Janice) Dorau and Miss Judity Fonk, all of Kenosha; Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Seitz, Racine; Mrs. Ronald (Carolyn) Kole, Buena Park; and Mrs. Martin (Joyce) Walsh, St. Louis, Mo.
In addition, he is survived by three brothers, Chester and Earl of Kenosha and Milton Fonk of Milwaukee; three sisters, Mrs. Matthew (Violet) Loewen and Mrs. Leo (Dorothy) Hall, both of Kenosha, and Mrs. Frank (Gladys) Maihofer, Arbor Vitae, Wis., and by 30 grandchildren.
FONK - Funeral services for the late Mr. Clarence P. Fonk, of 7921 Cooper Rd., who passed away March 13th, in Buena Park, Calif., will be held from the Crossin-Proko Funeral Home Tuesday, March 16th, at 10:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Parish vigil services will be Monday (today) at 7:00 p.m. Memorials to St. Joseph's High School would be appreciated by the family.
