Last rites for Mrs. John Kaskie, 81, of Des Moines, were held at St. Mary's church in Rock Valley at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, August 30. Fr. David T. McGoey officiated and burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery. Six grandnephews, Frank, Davis, Paul and Bernard Kaskie and Richard and Robert Richter served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Kaskie died at Des Moines on Tuesday after an illness of several years. She was born Josephine Glowezesky, daughter of John and Mary Glowezesky at Bloomington, Ill., on January 6, 1870.
The Glowezesky family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa; when she was in her teens. She was united in marriage to John Kaskie at Storm Lake on March 4, 1889. Five children were born to this union, three of whom preceded her in death. They were Florence, Edward and Albert. Mr. Kaskie died in 1907.
Mrs. Kaskie and her two surviving sons, Everett and Raymond, moved to Des Moines in the year 1915.
Survivors include Everett and Raymond, both of Des Moines, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Geo. Scheddig of Cheeney, Wash., Mrs. Clarence Steigh, Storm Lake and Anna Glowezesky also of Storm Lake and four brothers: George of Arlington Heights, Ill., Rome of Chicago, Leo and Reece, both of Storm Lake.
