Born on the farm seven mile west of Rock Valley now owned by Fred Koch, on Jan. 17, 1899, Edward S. Kaskie died Monday, Feb. 1, 1943, at Mercy hospital, Des Moines, of pneumonia.
His parents, John and Josephine, Kaskie, were well known former pioneer residents of this community. After the death of his father, when he was 13 years old, his mother and he moved to Salem, S.D., and then to Moberly, Mo., later settling in Des Moines where he lived until the time of his death.
He is survived by his aged mother and by two brothers, Ray J. and Everett F., all of Des Moines.
Funeral Mass was read by Rev. David McGoey at 10:30 Wednesday morning and burial was at St. Mary's cemetery.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Kaskie and son Joe, Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Kaskie and daughters Barbara and Patricia, Rysee Glowezewsky of Storm Lake, and Lawrence and Adeline Kaskie of Montrose, S.D. All were guests at the Lawrence Richter home.
