Frank Kaskie, 74, of Beresford, S.D., formerly of Hawarden, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Rock Valley, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be after 6:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Frank was born Feb. 8, 1931, in Rock Valley, Iowa, the son of Ollie and Anna (Gacken) Kaskie.
He married Hermina Ver Mulm on Nov. 10, 1951. He farmed near Rock Valley, Colton, S.D., and Hawarden until 1963. He was the owner and operator of Kaskie Welding from 1963 until retiring in 1980. He later lived in Sioux Center, Iowa, and Beresford.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin (Pam) Kaskie and Lyle (Shery) Kaskie, all of Hawarden, Ken (Sandi) Kaskie of North Platte, Neb., and Dennis (Cindy) Kaskie of Plainfield, Ill.; three daughters, Karen (Mark) Burnham of Pierson, Iowa, Cheryl (Broc) Hartman of Lennox, S.D., and Lori Kaskie and her friend, Steve of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Braaten of Canton, S.D., and Rose Ann (Alvin) Boyer of Alsip, Ill.; a brother, Paul Kaskie of Rock Valley; two sisters-in-law, Pat Kaskie of Hawarden and Alice Kaskie of Steilcoom, Wash.; and a special friend, Amber and her husband, Jeff Keiser.
