Patricia M. Kaskie, 72, of Hawarden died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Roger Linnan officiating. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. The Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden is assisting the family with arrangements.
Patricia May Hill was born June 4, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William L. and Teresa Anna (Hoefer) Hill. She attended Hawarden High School and married Davis Matthew Kaskie on Nov. 11, 1953, in Rock Valley, Iowa. Since Davis was in the military, the couple lived in many places, including Germany, Alaska, Georgia, Colorado, Minnesota, and lastly, she lived in Iowa. Pat was employed at Otis Radio in Hawarden, at JCPenney in Colorado, and at the Sister's Resort and also cleaned houses in Minnesota. David died Oct. 11, 1977, while they lived in Colorado.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden, and also the Eagles Club. She enjoyed playing pool, being with friends, having fun, and most of all, enjoyed being with her family.
Pat is survived by a sister, Betty Dierks of Reedsport, Ore.; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Bill, James and John; and five sisters, Bonnie Von Hagel, Mary White, Geri Koopsma, Rose Niemi and Matie Reinking.
