Rosemary Ann Kaskie, of Peoria, Ill., formerly of Vienna, Mo., passed away at 6 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013, in the Legend Oaks of Plum Creek Healthcare in Kyle, Hays County, Texas, with her family by her side.
Rosemary had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 87 years, 11 months and 16 days.
She was born on April 8, 1925, in Vienna, Maries County, Mo., a daughter of Herman John and Mathilda Rose (Redel) Sandbothe.
Rosemary grew up in Vienna, Mo., where she was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and had attended and graduated from the Visitation Parish School and the Vienna Public School.
She was united in marriage on Aug. 27, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., to Claude Francis Kaskie of Des Moines, Iowa, and to this union 10 children were born. After 13 moves in 17 years, Rosemary and Claude settled in Peoria, Ill., with their 10 children.
She was a woman of unbelievable faith and a pillar of strength. Her Catholic faith was exemplified by the ministering she did in her daily life to all of those who crossed her path.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 20, 1995; her father on Dec. 30, 1976; her mother on Jan. 31, 1966; three brothers, Raymond Sandbothe on July 4, 2004, Charles Sandbothe on Oct. 28, 2006, and Clarence Sandbothe; and one infant sister, Pauline Antonia Sandbothe, at age 6 weeks on March 11, 1934.
Those left to mourn the passing of Rosemary include her family of seven sons and three daughters, Madonna A. Kaskie of Peoria, Ill., Donald C. Kaskie of Inverness, Fla., Mary L. Pfeffer of Austin, Texas, Dorothy E. Robinson of Brooksville, Fla., Robert C. Kaskie of McAlester, Okla., Mark F. Kaskie of Tulsa, Okla., Thomas R. Kaskie of Peoria, Ill., Paul J. Kaskie of Buda, Texas, Joseph M. Kaskie of Fair Play, Mo., and G. She has left a legacy of faith, love, selflessness and courage to all of those who knew her. Caregivers knew her as "Giggles" - Rosemary was always smiling, laughing and loved to play practical jokes on them.
Visitation will be held for Rosemary from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2013, followed by a vigil service at 7 p.m. in the Vienna, Mo., Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev.
