Marge Kersey (1925 - 2013)

Marge Kersey passed away peacefully at her home and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.

Marge, the daughter of Vincent Kaskie and Ella Kappenman Kaskie, was born August 11, 1925, in Montrose, SD. On November 20, 1951, she was united in marriage with Keith L. Kersey in Mitchell, SD. Marge was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She was so fun loving and had such a wonderful sense of humor that she was a joy to be with and was much loved by her family and friends.

In addition to part time jobs over the years, her main vocation and occupation was that of homemaker, which she did with such style and grace. Her husband and children were the grateful recipients of her hard work, talent, and creativity. She was an accomplished seamstress and produced countless beautiful garments over the years, as well as home decorating projects such as drapery and upholstery. She was an excellent cook and was especially known for her delicious pie crusts.

Marge was a devoted member of St. Joseph Cathedral parish for over fifty years. She was a woman of deep faith which sustained her over the past several years that she suffered with declining health and great physical challenges.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 61 years, Keith, her two daughters Kathy (Dr. Michael) Fiegen, Patty (Steve) Kuehn, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Kersey, of Sioux Falls, SD. Keith and Marge have seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, siblings (Jimmy, Sr. Mary Ellen, Joe, Alyce, and Jerry), and her beloved son, Jim.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. The liturgical wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 15th at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to the Monastery of the Sisters of Adoration at St. Joseph Cathedral.
